The concept of online reading partners came from the work we carried out while completing face to face reading partners.

However, the big difference is the reading partners can be anywhere in the world.  There are several parts to an online reading partner scheme but in brief this is how it works.

Pupils in school are partnered with adults in the workplace or even an older child in school.  Both the child and their reading partner read the same book. The more experienced reading partner sends the child questions every week about the book they are reading and the child responds.  The secure environment where communication takes place is monitored by the teacher in class via a secure online environment.
